The Brief
The University of Wales Trinity St David (UWTSD) London Campus relocated to a purpose designed space at Canary Wharf. Working along side workplace specialist Maris, the Loughton Canary Wharf Division supplied and installed new floor finishes throughout.
University of Wales, London campus, needed a larger space, that would attract new students and help retain their existing. Like other educational institutions, UWTSD chose 2 floors in London’s Canary Wharf for it’s excellent transport links. The new space had a fresh and bright design, that recognised the university’s brand colours.
Throughout the walk ways and open breakout areas the design team selected a LVT wood effect tile from IVC Group. Our specialist installers fitted a 6mm plywood over the raised access floor prior to adhering the LVT.
Using specialist trims from C.A.T. Accessories our team created bespoke access hatches within the LVT flooring to allow ongoing access and maintenance below the floor. Similar trims were used at the junctions with other floor finishes to create a seamless transition. A stone effect LVT tile by Amtico was introduced in the ground floor reception area, framing new, sunken, entrance matting.
Workspaces featured a mixture of 3 different carpet tiles from IVC Group and another from Milliken. This softer finish provided a comfortable feel under foot as well as offering acoustic benefits to the space. Neutral colours allowed the design team to feature bold colours across the walls, in keeping with the university’s brand identity.
Back of house areas had Polyflor Standard, vinyl sheet installed, ideal for areas that are subjected to heavy wear and spillages.
